Café Training Project

The Broomhouse Centre Café Training Project is managed by Alex Baxter, Project Manager, with support from qualified cook, Debbie Tomkinson, and a large group of trainees.

The Café provides individual training, development and social support to a dedicated team of 30 trainees. All trainees participate in accredited training, depending on their aspirations, personal needs and abilities.

The volunteers come from all areas of the community: long and short term unemployed, participants in New Deal and New Deal 25 Plus, adults with physical and/or learning disabilities, adults with mental health difficulties and school or college students on work experience.

The Café Training Project provides a meal service to day groups and staff and volunteers, and is used as a café facility for people from the local and wider communities. The Café provides meals for The Beacon Club and supports a Special Needs Lunch Club.
