Adult Carers Support Project

Adult Carers Leaflet

Good News!!!

NHS Lothian has agreed to fund me for one year on a pilot project. I will now be part of the Edinburgh Carers Support Team, increasing my weekly hours from 4 to 14!

Our service is for anyone who is a carer. I am able to offer support, information and advocacy to carers on a one-to-one basis and I also run two monthly Carer Support Groups.

The Support Groups are held here in the Centre on the first Tuesday afternoon and the last Wednesday evening of the month. Various speakers and outings are arranged for the groups covering a wide variety of topics relevant to carers' needs and interests. A range of information is available for carers including information about respite, local and national organisations, and formal and informal training courses.

Many carers feel that they are socially isolated and in need of some support, whether it is someone to talk to or a break from caring. By joining one of our Carers' Groups, they often find they can share experiences with other carers who may have similar needs and they are not alone in the world of caring.

"The support group has helped me a great deal to get on with my daily life. I have also met lots of great people and have made lots of good friends."
"I have found the support invaluable. I've got good friends here."

Weekend Residential

We have secured funding from Astra Zenaca to take 8 carers away to Crieff Hydro in May for a luxurious dinner, bed and breakfast stay with reflexology and Swedish massage therapies to help carers relax and unwind from every day stresses of caring.
